Bye-bye SPREAD, the company I founded 10 years ago

2-minute read
For several weeks, I’m no longer the CEO of SPREAD. SPREAD is the startup I founded ten years ago, a Marketing SaaS service focused on helping online merchants to grow their customer community.
Why did I leave the startup I’ve created?
As soon as we raise money, we know that we will have to exit. That is the rule.
I have a 3-year work cycle:
- The first 3 years, I worked on the idea, built the first product.
- The next 3 years, after we raised our seed money, we worked on growth, seeking customers.
- The last 3 years, after we were sold by our fund, we establish a new relationship with the group that bought us and tried to create a synergy.
In a heartbeat, I came from “I launch a startup” to “I’m leaving”.
And the last year, we found the one to replace me, and take some time to be with him managing the company.
And after?
The rollercoaster just stopped. But I used to ride a rollercoaster… It’s a strange feeling.
I’m going to launch another startup. For now, I don’t know exactly what, but I’m fixed on some points:
- I ❤️ B2B Saas, forever.
- All sectors are interesting, but I think I know e-commerce well, even so, edtech is interesting to me.
- Geographically, I don’t think to leave the Normandy on a short term … but after, who knows?
- I’m now a product guy, after being focused on tech then marketing. So let’s build a product.
